Product care
At Indomita Heirlooms we are artisans and each piece we produce is unique, that is why we recommend that the pieces are cared for in a specific way to extend the life of each one of them.
We use yellow bronze, sterling silver 925, solid gold 14kt and 18kt.
BRONZE 101
Yellow bronze is a nickel free alloy primarily composed of copper, tin, and zinc, which gives it a warm, golden hue. Given its durability and affordable price point, yellow bronze is an excellent alternative to gold: it is a lifetime investment since it will never lose color (as opposed to gold-plated jewelry) and can stay shiny forever with minimal regular care, like using our included polishing cloth.
For certain people, bronze has the potential to cause a greenish patina on the skin when it reacts with the acid levels of our PH. This depends entirely on individual body chemistry and is not the result of any defect or quality issue - it is simply the nature of solid bronze, it’s completely harmless and goes away by simply washing your hands. If this bothers you, a great trick to use is to paint a thin coat of clear nail polish on the inside of the ring to prevent any oxidation on the skin.
After wearing it, use our included soft cloth to lightly polish your jewelry to remove oils and dirt.
HERE ARE A FEW EASY WAYS TO CLEAN YOUR BRONZE JEWELRY AT HOME:
Gentle Soap Soak
Mix warm water with a few drops of gentle dish soap. Let your bronze pieces soak for 10-15 minutes, then gently brush with a soft toothbrush. Rinse well and pat dry with a soft cloth.
Lemon and Baking Soda Method:
Mix lemon juice with a small amount of baking soda until it forms a paste. Gently rub the paste onto the tarnished areas with a soft cloth or toothbrush. Rinse with warm water and dry thoroughly.
Vinegar and Salt Solution:
Combine 1 tablespoon of salt with 1 cup of white vinegar. Dip your jewelry into the solution or soak a cloth in the mixture and gently wipe the surface. Rinse with water and dry immediately.
Commercial Metal Polish (pro level):
When you’re ready to get really professional — invest in a little jar of metal polish. Brands like Brasso, Flitz or Wright’s are easy to find, they’re made specifically for metals, and they work wonders on bronze and silver. Always follow the directions on the jar and use sparingly — a little goes a long way.
